C HRISTMAS IN THE USA

2 VERY IMPOTENT RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS IN THE USA Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, which, celebrated on December 25. Easter is a holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary as described in the New Testament

C HRISTMAS TREE A Christmas tree is a decorated tree, usually an evergreen conifer such as pine or fir, traditionally associated with the celebration of Christmas. American tree usually stands near the window for everybody to see it from the street. Most families will have a tree which is decorated with lights, tinsel, cookies and lots of colorful ornaments – many of them handmade over the years

People hang stockings as well, by their fireplace or on the staircase. Some people decorate the inside of their houses, and others put up a nativity scene – either in their house or in their yard Christmas Decorations

Christmas Eve is the 24th of December. In the US, we don´t celebrate it as much as in Europe. Every family has their own tradition for Christmas Eve. Some people go to church, but almost everyone eats a big dinner with their families.

For Christmas dinner, families gather together. A traditional Christmas Dinner consist of roast turkey (or goose), mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and a variety of other dishes. Desserts include mince pies, pumpkin pie, plum pudding and fruitcake.

American children believe in Santa Clause. On Christmas Eve he flies in a magic sleigh pulled by 9 reindeer to deliver toys to all the children. He puts them under the Christmas tree and in their stockings. He comes in and leaves through the chimney.

During the Christmas season, people often go from door to door singing Christmas carols. A “carol” normally refers to a song related to Christmas, the birth of Jesus, etc. and express joy and happiness! Many people watch traditional Christmas films.

Christmas tradition 1. People sing special songs called Christmas carols: Silent Night Jingle Bells Whiten Christmas We wish you a Marry Christmas 2. Children write their Santa list and they create snowman in their gardens.
