ANS 105 Course Web Page Address: This will be changed to WebCT early in the semester … but for now please use the above address
ANS 105 Sorry to say … but this class is completely full. If you are hoping to add this class I can not let you in. I simply do not have enough seats.
ANS 105 Interesting Note: I teach in Polk Hall at 10:15 – 11:05 & then here at 11:20. Needless to say … I will arrive just in time to start class. I also teach at 12:25 immediately following this class … so … I would love to meet and talk to each of you … but before and after class will be a challenge. Please me and set up a time if you want to chat.
ANS 105 Previous complaints w/ my comments: 1). There is too much info for a 100 level course 2). There should not be an attendance policy (or tardy policy) … WELL … 3). The lecture slides are not entertaining enough 4). The PowerPoint slides should be sent out in advance even if it encourages some students to not attend
ANS 105 Previous positive feedback w/ my comments: 1). Students love the animals in class. 2). Students love the freedom to ask questions / etc. 3). Students love the guest speakers. 4). Although there is a lot of material … the majority of students love their good grades & the fact that they will know how to take care of their future pets regardless of their academic major.
ANS 105 Throughout the semester, if you do not have computer access, you can use the computers in Polk Hall right around the corner (Rooms 9, 11 & 13) for all portions of the class accessing the web.
Why are classes like this one growing in popularity? (in fact … this class is ALWAYS full) It has been estimated that there are 64 million American homes that have pets. 78 million cats 65 million dogs 192 million fish 40 million birds 13 million small animals 8 million reptiles
20.3 billion spent on pet care 11 billion spent of vet care 9 billion on food Close to 1 billion spent on toys & treats Over 65% talk to their pet as if it were a human Over 50% greet their pet before they great their “human family” Etc.
Whatever your career choice … Odds are very high that at some time in your life you are going to be responsible for a companion animal. The goal of this course is to teach you how to better take care of your animal so that it is healthy, happy, & well-adjusted. (And to make your animal oriented decisions based on fact not opinion) Course Justification
