What are Copyrighted Images A copyright is a legal protection used for intellectual property such as writings, pictures, graphics and music. The United State Copyright Act of 1976 gives creators the right of ownership from the moment the piece is created. Images that are copyrighted include, but are not limited to, drawings, photographs and computer-generated graphics. The protection provided under the Copyright Act gives artists complete domain over their images

HS Directory Cover What is the theme of the Directory of NYC Public High Schools?

HS Directory Cover Your cover design should incorporate the feeling of the City of New York and should be tied to the concepts of education, learning and growing up.

HS Directory Cover A. NO Copyrighted Images. B. Inclusiveness: Designs should be appropriate for all ethnicities, ages, genders and boroughs. Overall your design should feel inclusive to all residents in the City of New York. C. School-Based Images: We encourage the use of school-based imagery in the directory designs. It’s fine to incorporate other New York City imagery (subways, taxis, apples, buildings, etc.), but such imagery should be tied to the concepts of education, learning and growing up.

HS Directory Cover What are the judging criteria? Designs will be judged on the following four criteria: 1. Originality 2. Application of the principles of design 3. How adaptable the design is to different media (bags, t- shirts, CDs, etc.) 4. How well the design will interact with the text
