Regular and Irregular verbs In English there are two type of verbs which are: * Regular A verb that forms its past tense by adding –ed to the verb. Irregular A verb that forms its past tense by changing the whole word.

Examples of Regular and Irregular Verbs * Regular verbs: Walk Walked Call Called Visit Visited * Irregular verbs: Go Went See Saw Leave Left

Regular in Sentences Verb + ed. For example: He called me yesterday? Last month, I visited Japan. She cleaned her room. He washed his car.

Irregular Are the verbs that should be changed. For example: I saw a film last week. Did you call Joe? I didn't see a game last year. He went to cinema last night.

Form of past simple (Irregular)   Positive * I wrote * I thought Negative * I did not write *I did not think Question * Did I write? *Did I think?

Spelling when Adding (ed) After a final (e) only add (d) (love – loved) Final consonant after a short, stressed vowel or(l)as final consonant after a vowel is doubled (travel - travelled) finally after a consonant becomes( i) (hurry – hurried )
