Taliban vs. Western Values By Abhi Bobba and Rachel Taylor

What lies at the root of this conflict? Some western values contradicts the core values of islam. For example, how women are allowed/expected to dress is drastically different.

What form does this conflict take? There is open violence in the form of a war going on in the middle east. There is discrimination against muslims in the US.

What is the spatial extent of the conflict? This conflict occurs in the middle east and in the US.

How long has there been tension/conflict? The conflict started when Taliban terrorists hi-jacked a plane and crashed it into the world trade center on November 11, 2001. It has been going on for 12 years.

How Many people have been affected? In What Ways? Because of this conflict, there is much bad blood between US citizens and middle easterners. In the US, there is often racial profiling against middle easterners. In the middle east, there is often open hate directed at America. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt9I2-V7AZs Also, approximately 172,000 people have died in the war.

Examples of how conflict presents itself at a global, regional and local scale There is currently a war going on. There is increased security at US airports. There is racism both ways.
