Leadership By: Nick Meress

What is a leader? Being a leader comes from how you were born and raised. It doesn’t mean you might be the president of the united states of America one day, it just means being someone who others consistently want to follow for new trends and ideas.

Being a Leader I've always been a leader ever since I was young. I'm not being cocky or anything, but in order to be a leader one must be confident in them self. Without confidence then others won’t want to be like you or follow you.

Being a Leader I think another thing that makes a leader is always not having to be first. This I found out when I was younger, you can just tell the kid who wants others to be like them or try's to get everyone to like them. I think being a real leader just comes from almost being different from others, knowing what you want and achieving it, others will see this and want to follow.

My career as a leader My goal in life is to become an entrepreneur. The definition of an entrepreneur is a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so. Therefore I would be a leader to my employees and my company.

Before being a leader Before I can be a leader, I have to go to college and get a degree. This means learning everything that makes a good leader. I have to become an expert of what I want to run before I can be the boss. Being a leader doesn’t happen over night, it takes a lot of time and hard work.

Preparing to be a Leader Preparing myself to be a leader one day all started with how my parents raised me, like I said. They taught me the difference between right and wrong, morals, to be honest, and to treat others the way I want to be treated. All of these made pretty easy sense to me, giving me a jump start to become a leader.

Preparing to become a leader Before I can become a leader in society and my career, I first have to go to get a higher education. This will also help me prepare for being a leader because I'm going to have to communicate a lot more will others and work with others which are both two important components in being a leader.

Future leadership The leadership position I see myself in the future is being the owner/boss of my own company. There is no other job that better portrays a leader than this because I would literally be the leader. I plan on being a good boss being kind but firm, care about my employees, and always keep promises.

Strengths There are a lot of characteristics that make up a good leader and I have some of them. I am a very honest person and this is important in being a leader because people want to trust you leading them in the right direction. Ability to delegate meaning showing people that you have trust in them and that they will do everything correct.

Strengths I have good communication skills. Not only am I good at talking to others and making sure they understand, but what really is important for communication is the ability to listen. Being able to hear others out, if they are telling you if something is wrong or just asking a question. A leader can not always do it all by his/herself so it is important to communicate with others to solve problems.

Strength I have a positive attitude which makes it easier for people to want to follow. Even if I am not always in the best mood, I don’t let that affect my attitude because I always want everyone to think I'm positive. Attitudes are contagious and being a leader I would only want people to catch positive ones.

Weakness One of the hardest characteristics for me to achieve to be a good leader is the ability to inspire. Inspiring someone is difficult for me because in my mind the person either wants it or not. I know I can’t have such a closed mind on a topic like this and I'm working on getting better everyday.

Weakness Open to change is difficult for me but in order to remain successful, sometimes things have to change. A leader will take into account all points of view and will be willing to change if something is no longer beneficial to the group as a whole.

Last Impression It is my goal to be a leader in society. Like I said from the start, I don’t plan on being the president one day but I will give it my all to be a leader and make an impact on society one day.
