Physical Exam Sequence This is a general series of events that may happen. The MA may or may not be part of the following sequence of events.
Physical Exam Sequence 1. Room Prep- Make sure exam room is neat, clean, and have the supplies ready to use. This may be the job for the MA.

Basic Examination Equipment Nasal Speculum Speculums increase the size of the hole. Examine the inside of the nose
Ophthalmoscope Examine the inside of the eye-blood vessels, retina, optic disc
Otoscope Examines the inside of the ear—ear drum
Tongue depressor Use to move the tongue out of the way when doing a oral examination--mouth
Reflex Hammer Test the reflexes –knee, elbow wrist
Tuning Fork—test hearing, and for fractures
Stethoscope Listen to body Sounds Diaphragm- Bell-
Gloves Protection
Tape measure Measure stuff
