The Art of Waiting on the Lord How well do you wait? “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him to act.” Psalm 37:7

Simeon “Righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consultation of Israel and the Holy Spirit was upon him.” -- Luke 2:25 “Lord, will you restore the Kingdom now?” Acts 1:6

“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait until the Father sends you the Holy Spirit” Acts 1:4

“And even we Christians, although we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, also groan to be released from pain and suffering. We, too, wait anxiously for that day when God will give us our full rights as his children, including the new bodies he has promised us.” Romans 8:23

“Yes I (Jesus) am coming soon.” Revelation 22:20

WHY is waiting important to God? “What God does in us while we wait is as important as what it is we are waiting for.” John Ortberg

The important SKILL of waiting. “Delayed gratification is a process of scheduling the pain and pleasure of life in such a way as to enhance the pleasure by meeting and experiencing the pain first and getting it over with. It is the only decent way to live.”

What Does It Mean To Wait On The Lord? Patient Trust Confident Humility Rugged Hope

“God gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” -- Isaiah 40:29-30
