Standard 5 Implementation The registered nurse implements the identified plan.

The Implementation Standard in Nursing Practice Nurses select and implement interventions that will promote client goal achievement. Implementation involves direct and indirect interventions. Implementation involves ongoing assessment and evaluation. Nurses use critical thinking skills to determine how to implement interventions 

The Implementation Standard in Nursing Practice Nurses demonstrate the art and science of nursing when implementing interventions. ◦ The art of nursing is based on caring and respect for human dignity. ◦ The science of nursing is based on research, evidence, clinical expertise, and client values Nurses strive to promote optimal client participation. 

The Implementation Standard in Nursing Practice Nurses use critical thinking skills to determine how to implement interventions. Nurses modify interventions based on diverse client needs Implementation varies based on resource availability Technology is used to enhance nursing practice, coordinate care and maximize client independence Interventions are documented

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Advanced practice registered nurses: Demonstrate deeper knowledge, more advanced skills and increased role autonomy Use broader resources, implement evidence-based practice, provide consultation and prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions

Graduate -level Prepared Specialty Nurses Graduate-level prepared specialty nurses: Promote practice environments associated with better patient outcomes Often hold positions with significant leadership dimensions Provide consultation in area of expertise
