No modified option – students take STAAR Modified in English with accommodations In 2013, online testing program ELLs in grades 2–12 who enter U.S. schools in the 2 nd semester of the school year and do not speak English will no longer be eligible to automatically be assigned a rating of beginning without taking the reading test.
