L STAAR L VersionsParticipation Misc. Grades 3-8 and EOC in Math, Science and Social Studies Composed of STAAR test forms in English that have built-in computer-based linguistic accommodations designed for ELLs who are eligible for a significant degree of linguistic accommodation 2 accommodations - clarification of unfamiliar English and reading aloud of text All ELLs are required to participate; no exemptions Spanish-version assessment does not exist or is not the most appropriate measure of the student’s academic progress Student has not yet attained an advanced high rating on TELPAS reading Student has been enrolled in U.S. schools for 3 school years or less Participation Misc. No modified option – students take STAAR Modified in English with accommodations In 2013, online testing program ELLs in grades 2–12 who enter U.S. schools in the 2 nd semester of the school year and do not speak English will no longer be eligible to automatically be assigned a rating of beginning without taking the reading test. The students will take the test and receive scores based on their test performance © 2011 REGION XIII
