Mind Mapping

Dr. J. Mior2 Mind Map Sample

Dr. J. Mior3 What is a Mind Map? Mind map is a tool which helps you think and learn. Shows the structure of the subject and linkages between points as well as the raw facts contained in normal notes. Holds information in a format that your mind will find easy to remember and quick to review.

Dr. J. Mior4 Shows the ‘shape’ of the subject, the relative importance of individual points and the way in which one fact relates to others. Is more compact than conventional notes, often taking up one side of paper. Helps make associations easier. What is a Mind Map?

Dr. J. Mior5 How to Do a Mind Map Mind mapping (or concept mapping) involves writing down a central ideal and thinking up new and related ideas which radiate out from the centre. By focusing on key ideas written down in your own words, and then looking for branches and connections between ideas, you are mapping knowledge in a manner which will help you understand and remember new information.

Dr. J. Mior6 Look for Relationships Relationships are important in understanding new information. By personalizing the map with your own symbols and designs you will be constructing visual and meaningful relationships between ideas which will assist in recall and understanding.
