OCN London Creating Opportunities Qualification Launch

OCNLR Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 Awards in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (QCF) Each Award comprised of a single 1 credit unit. Guided learning hours vary with the level of the qualification: Entry 310 hours Level One8 hours Level Two6 hours

Qualification Overview Bite sized introduction to the subject Provides a structure for the delivery of equality and diversity training. Broad in scope to include situations of equality and diversity in daily life as well as in the workplace. Generically designed to be used in a range of contexts.

Purpose of the Qualifications To give a basic introduction to the meaning of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - its place in and value to society. To pick up on attitudes and beliefs that underlie stereotyping. To allow for an exploration of the fundamental concepts. To look at the policies that protect these rights.

Who is the Qualification for ? A. Learners in colleges and other educational environments: for a sound understanding of equality and diversity It supports the acquisition of good life skills for a successful and positive educational experience As necessary underpinning knowledge for a range of vocational courses To enhance employment opportunities and prospects.

Who is the Qualification for ? B. Employers in a range of organisations: As a useful tool to structure equality and diversity training for the continuous professional development of their workforce at different levels. To provide staff with a recognised qualification on the national framework.

Assessment and Verification An OCN London Assessment Portfolio is supplied for each learner registered Achievement of these qualifications is by Internal Assessment, Internal Verification and External Moderation of this portfolio. Some possibility of devising tasks relevant to the learners.

Task 1 : 20 minutes You are a Learner on an Equality and Diversity course Imagine you have had the benefit of tutor input and group discussions. Working individually or in pairs complete the tasks in the Assessment Portfolio on your table. The Post-it note on the front of your workbook will guide you to your starting point.

Task 2 : 15 minutes Now imagine you are the Tutor/Trainer/Assessor for the Equality and Diversity course Swap Assessment Portfolios with a colleague on your table and mark the work in the space provided in the workbook. Once again you will need to imagine and assume the learners work follows input during the course in a specific context.
