Progress To Date

DTU - Mission/Vision/Values (Draft) ThemesUnderpinning Values 1How we interact externally with others Accessible, Borderless, Engaged 2The impact that we have on our societyInnovative, Transformative, Disruptive, Challenging, Entrepreneurial 3Our description as an evolving educational ecosystem with experimentation, inbuilt self-evaluation and re- adjustment Adaptable, Agile, Learning, interdisciplinary 4The way we treat ourselves and others Caring, Supporting, Nurturing, Respectful, Dignity, Ethical 5The energy/enthusiasm we bring to our missionPassionate, Vibrant, Confident 6Our sense of international purpose through local identity Rooted but outward looking 7The practice-led approach to our educational meaning Life Long, Vocational. Professional, Learning and Enquiry Mission To innovate by being a practice-led, research informed unitary and autonomous university operating in a global context and making a real difference to Dublin and Ireland. We will translate our passion for learning, education and research into accessible life changing opportunities for students on campus, on-line and in the communities we serve. Vision We will be a university that continually challenges the status quo and will be characterized by providing multidisciplinary education, creative research and knowledge transfer all of which will drive transformative engagement locally, nationally and internationally. Values

DTU - Governance Principles underlying nature of Governing Authority, Academic Council and Executive Team in development Addressing the role and composition of these bodies Ensuring these are aligned to the emerging mission, vision and values Need to influence the direction of legislation for TUs is evident

DTU – Academic/People & Change/Professional Services Activity with a range of groups in progress in each of the above areas Very good engagement across all 3 partners in the process to date ‘Field work’ for these work-streams to be largely completed by 20 December

Staff Engagement – Key Issues Emerging How to achieve changes in staff profile required in DTU including impact of TU criteria – gap between target and where we are now How we will we ensure that we continue to offer provision across Levels 6 to 10 and opportunities to progress across the levels Retention of key areas of provision across Blanchardstown, Tallaght and Grangegorman Continuation of remit to serve local communities Advantages of TU/how will we be different to ‘traditional’ universities Need for more information, communication and opportunity to participate
