The Scientific Method Experiments: – Independent variable: is manipulated – Dependant variable: is measured – Controlled variable: kept constant – Experimental group: contains the manipulated organisms – Control group: contains the organisms that are held constant
The Metric System The system of measurement universally used by scientists. Base 10 system of measurement. Basic units: mass = grams, volume = Liters, length = meters Consult page 2 of your lab manual for specific conversions
Dimensional Analysis Always show your units and cancel them as you do your conversions this will eliminate careless mistakes.
