We use PBIS, don’t we?  Many believe PBIS means being positive or using praise.  Tangible rewards can negatively affect intrinsic motivation.  PBIS was designed for students with disabilities, but our kids are too low to incorporate this program.  Why should I have to teach kids to be good?

We use PBIS, don’t we?  Why can I not just expect good behavior?  They know better and/or know what they are doing.  I recognize good behavior all the time.

Teaching behavioral expectations and rewarding students for following them is a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur before responding. The purpose of school- wide PBIS is to establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm.
