Boy Scout Ranks

Scout Scout is the joining badge, earned by completing the requirements to join Boy Scouting. The badge is awarded when the boy demonstrates a foundational knowledge of the Scouting ideals such as tying a square knot and knowing the Scout oath, law, and slogan. On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Tenderfoot Tenderfoot is the first rank earned as a Boy Scout. A Scout is introduced to basic camping, cooking, knots and First Aid. The Scout will know the Scout Oath, Scout Law, motto and slogan. A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Second Class A Second Class Scout has learned more First Aid, knots, camping and cooking skills and knows how to use a map & compass. He knows how to make a fire and handle knives, axes & saws. He will have shown swimming skills, participated in flag ceremonies, performed service in his community and taken an active role in his patrol. Be Prepared

A Star Scout will have taken an active leadership role in Troop or in his patrol He will have earned at least six merit badges, four of which are Eagle required. As an American, I will do my best to— Be clean in my outdoor manners, Be careful with fire Be considerate in the outdoors, Be conservation-minded

Life A Life Scout will build on his experience as a Star Scout and continue to be a leader within the Troop, his Patrol and through service in the community. He will have earned at least five more merit badges, three of which are Eagle required. A Scout smiles and whistles under all circumstances. - Robert Baden Powell

Eagle An Eagle Scout has reached the end of the long trail to Eagle. He will have maintained a position of leadership in the Troop while earning at least ten more merit badges, five required for Eagle. He will have completed his Eagle project which benefits the community. “The Eagle Award is not really meant for people who need to be dragged across the finish line. It's meant for a select few…I can tell you for certain, that NOT getting your Eagle, will be one of the easiest things you've ever done.” Mike Rowe, Eagle Scout and host of Dirty Jobs

Eagle Palms Eagle Palms represent an Eagle Scout’s continuing commitment to Scouting and leadership. A Scout may earn a Palm every 3 months and 5 merit badges – first Bronze, then Gold, then Silver, up to a total of 6 Silver and 1 Gold. “I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature. ” - John D. Rockefeller

Order of the Arrow A Scout who best exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law is nominated into the Order of the Arrow by his peers. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others. “I am a success today because I had a friend who believed in me and I didn't have the heart to let him down. ” - Abraham Lincoln

World Conservation Award “I am a success today because I had a friend who believed in me and I didn't have the heart to let him down. ” - Abraham Lincoln The World Conservation Award provides an opportunity for individual Boy Scouts to 'think globally' and 'act locally' to preserve and improve our environment.
