Training and Performance Support System Lesson 1 VISION User Training FOCUS Learning Corporation

Overall familiarity Modules, purpose and scope of each; a sense for how they integrate and work together. Map the data to your SAT processes How the VISION data is connected, and “maps” with your SAT process. Activities Ability to get in, find what you need, trace links, perform the basic SAT activities and keep it all up to date. Goals- expected outcomes of the training FOCUS Learning Corporation

Introduction The VISION modules VISION is comprised of two main modules. e FOCUS Learning Corporation

Identify the two main modules of VISION, the overall purpose of each, and how they work together. e Objective I2 FOCUS Learning Corporation

VISION Developer Carry out and maintain analysis, design, development (ADDIE) VISION Learning Station web module (LS) Integrate e-learning, testing and personnel records tracking Main Idea- two modules This training will focus on the VISION Developer module. We’ll cover the VISION Learning Station later. FOCUS Learning Corporation

Learning Station Separate module- integrates the Implementation and Evaluation phases with Developer data in a computer setting: exams, training, qualifications, and trainee records. Integrates results (records) with the enterprise LMS. Main Idea- what they do Developer Core module- facilitates the Analysis, Design and Development phases of the ADDIE process. Results in one integrated database. Generate printed outcomes including exams, lesson plans, qual. checklists.

Introduction The VISION Developer module e FOCUS Learning Corporation Facilitates the Analysis, Design and Development phases of the SAT (ADDIE) process.

VISION Developer supports: Analysis, Design and Development phases of the SAT process; efficient use and re-use of the data; and ongoing change management to keep it all up to date. e Objective FOCUS Learning Corporation

The VISION Developer module supports the following: 1.First, document the Analysis and Design phases of A-D-D-I-E This results in an SAT database foundation for integrated programs. 2. Develop (or connect) course content Content is stored as “learning objects” connected directly to objectives. 3. Generate exams, training materials and other products Course materials and exams are generated on-demand from the database. 5. Keep it all up to date U se the data foundation links to pinpoint areas affected by change. Main Idea- How it works 4. Share and re-use data objects across programs Minimize redundant effort, speed up development, lower the burden of change. FOCUS Learning Corporation

How a VISION Database is Organized Projects and Work Areas The flow of information Interaction across projects Introduction FOCUS Learning Corporation

Objective Explain how a VISION database is Organized as projects and work areas. FOCUS Learning Corporation

Project 1 Project 2 Project 3 Project 4 Database Work Areas Analysis Objectives/Questions Program Main Idea- VISION Database FOCUS Learning Corporation

A VISION database is organized as follows: The database is separated into projects. Each project can have three types of work areas: Analysis, Objectives/questions, Program Information “flows” from analysis, to objectives, to program. There can be many projects in a database. There can be more than one of any of the three types of work areas. Information can be viewed and shared across the projects. Explanation- VISION Database FOCUS Learning Corporation

If you are planning how to organize a VISION database for your enterprise, an important part of your plan is how to separate the database into _______. A project can be broken into three kinds of work areas. Name them: _________________, _________________, _________________ Practice- VISION Database FOCUS Learning Corporation

How Data is Connected The Instructional Design Foundation How reports and documents are produced Why this makes change management easier Introduction FOCUS Learning Corporation

Objective Explain how training information is connected within and across work areas. FOCUS Learning Corporation

1.Arranged in three areas: Analysis, Objectives, Program. 2.Connect JTA components to objectives (with drag/drop). 3.Create test questions directly linked to objectives. 4.Assign (link) objectives to lesson units (with drag/drop). 5.Result is a traceable audit trail from any aspect of the SAT data. 6.Extend the audit trail with cross-references (tables). 7.Develop content at the objective level as “learning objects”. 8.Use all of these connections to produce products from the database. VISION data is connected as follows: Main Idea - How SAT data elements are connected FOCUS Learning Corporation

Introduction The Purpose of an Objectives Hierarchy what an objectives hierarchy looks like what it represents why a hierarchy of objectives is important FOCUS Learning Corporation

Objective Name four advantages of representing the learning objectives in a separate hierarchical structure in VISION. FOCUS Learning Corporation

Main Idea- Objectives hierarchy 1. transforms a “work-breakdown” structure into a “learning and qualification” structure; 2. provides a visual “roadmap” for chunking and sequencing; 3. gives us one central location: faster to find, share, re-use or change an objective; 4. preserves the learning order regardless of how they appear in lessons. An objectives hierarchy: FOCUS Learning Corporation

Introduction The Relationships Between Analysis and Objectives Instructional design perspective VISION system perspective FOCUS Learning Corporation

Main Idea- analysis to objectives The following relationships can exist between… Direct: one to one Consolidate: many to one Elaborate: one to many analysis components and objectives FOCUS Learning Corporation

Main Idea- analysis to objectives The following relationships can exist between… Indirect: Parent is Linked No relationship analysis components and objectives FOCUS Learning Corporation

 Objectives can be “indirectly” linked to a task via their link to a parent objective, which is directly linked to the task.  Objectives can be “reverse linked” back to analysis components.  Links provide an important trail for later queries or audits. Keep in mind: Explanation- Analysis to Objectives FOCUS Learning Corporation
