The course covers six units of study Unit One: Exploring Planet Earth - Mapping, Rocks and minerals Unit Two: Inside the Earth- Plate Tectonics, Earthquakes, Volcanoes Unit Three: Earth’s Changing Surface Weathering, Soil Formation Erosion, Geologic Time, Energy Resources Unit Four: Earth’s Waters- Fresh Water, Ocean Waves, Tides, Chemistry, Zones Unit Five: Weather and Climate - Atmosphere, Storms, Climate Weather Unit Six: Astronomy Earth, Moon, Sun, Stars, Galaxies, Solar System, Universe

Focus: Evaluating the Essentials To Radically Improve student Learning A variety of formative and summative assessments will be used to gage student progress. Hands-on Laboratory experiences or video Laboratory experiences will be provided.
Grading: Marking Period Grades will be determined by an accumulated point value system. Points Earned/Available points Note: Extra-credit is not available.
Accelerated Students Accelerated students are assessed using exams that require greater independent thinking and writing skills. Accelerated students will also be required to complete a monthly journal entry and complete three written investigations each marking period.
