 The AEC for each location must install the templates on your RMS Express computer (see our website for step-by-step instructions)  The AEC for each location needs to become comfortable with this installation process, because the templates will continue to be updated in the future 3

 Both the Sending & Receiving RMS Express stations need to have the same template pack to open the message for viewing as the rendered browser form  These forms are as close to possible as original hard copy forms  Not all web browsers display the form input boxes exactly the same way. Just adjust your browser screen size or text size if any of the fields appear wrong 4

 To help you understand how to use the templates in RMS Express  To walk you through these processes: 1. Initiating a new ICS-213 message 2. Opening an ICS-213 message after the first time you view it 3. Replying to an ICS-213 message  To help you to be a more competent Packet / Pactor operator for ARES 5

What do the templates do?  They provide a readable form to you, in your web browser, that facilitates filling out the required fields of an ICS-213 message  They provide a form that prints out nicely for non-ham recipients  They populate only the body of the RMS Express message, and part of the header  The message is sent as plain text within the body of the message, formatted as best as possible, to allow non-template viewing 6

Body and Header? Body = message Header = To, CC, Subject & Attach are populated 7

To send an ICS-213 Create a “New Message” and select the ICS-213 button at the top: 8

Your web browser opens the form: 9

You fill out the form, tabbing between fields and click Submit 10

You’re back at the RMS Message: with the body & Subject filled out (the Attachment is the template code) 11

Fill out the “To:” in the header, then Post to Outbox (Do not change anything in the message body) 12

Outbox: Note the Attachment icon on the message 13

After the message is sent & received, the receiver will see the message in their inbox. When the receiver clicks on the message, the template auto-opens up: You may print this to distribute to the non- ham recipient 14

If you want to see the message again, after closing the browser, just click on the attachment paper clip To reply to the message, use the RMS Express Message function of “Reply…” or “Reply to all…” 15

That opens up the reply template: Fill in your reply and click Submit (only the Reply area in the message may be modified) 16

Back in RMS, simply Post to Outbox 17

 That is all there is… it is not like we are asking you to perform an analysis of heterodyne interference…  Any questions? 18
