by Eric Douma December 20, 2015 Our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is His name, The Holy One of Israel (Isaiah 47:4).

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church2 Micah 5:1-3 ESV Now muster your troops, O daughter of troops; siege is laid against us; with a rod they strike the judge of Israel on the cheek. But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel.

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church3 Ruth’s Faith Ruth 1:16 But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Naomi’s Sad Loss Ruth 1:19-20 So they both went until they came to Bethlehem. And when they had come to Bethlehem, all the city was stirred because of them, and the women said, “Is this Naomi?” She said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.”

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church4 The Lord’s Provision Ruth 2:1 Now Naomi had a kinsman of her husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz. Ruth Has Favor With The Redeemer Ruth 2:8, 12 Then Boaz said to Ruth, “Listen carefully, my daughter. Do not go to glean in another field; furthermore, do not go on from this one, but stay here with my maids…May the LORD reward your work, and your wages be full from the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to seek refuge.”

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church5 Boaz: Husband and Redeemer Ruth 3:9-11 He said, “Who are you?” And she answered, “I am Ruth your maid. So spread your covering over your maid, for you are a close relative.” Then he said, “May you be blessed of the LORD, my daughter. You have shown your last kindness to be better than the first by not going after young men, whether poor or rich. Now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you whatever you ask, for all my people in the city know that you are a woman of excellence.”

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church6 Boaz Marries Ruth: Ruth 4:13-17 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in to her. And the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed is the LORD who has not left you without a redeemer today, and may his name become famous in Israel…then Naomi took the child and laid him in her lap, and became his nurse. The neighbor women gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi!” So they named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church7 Boaz (Great-grandfather of David) Redeemed: Jew-Naomi, Gentile-Ruth Jesus (Descendant of David) Redeemed: Jews and Gentiles Isaiah 44:6 Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides Me.

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church8 1. Firstborn Son  Exodus 34:20 …You shall redeem all the firstborn of your sons… 2. An Israelite’s Name  Deut. 25:6 Then the first son she bears will continue the name of the dead brother, thus preventing his name from being blotted out of Israel. 3. Land  Leviticus 25:25 If a fellow countryman of yours becomes so poor he has to sell part of his property, then his nearest kinsman is to come and buy back what his relative has sold.

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church9 Luke 1:68-69 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people, and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of David His servant.” 1 Peter 1:18-19 …you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church10 We Are All Sinners – Incompatible with God! Psalm 5:4-5 Certainly you are not a God who approves of evil; evil people cannot dwell with you. Arrogant people cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who behave wickedly. Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church11 Romans 3:23-25a …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. Galatians 3:23 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”

Gospel of Grace Fellowshipggf.church12 Job 19:25-26 “As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth. Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I shall see God.”
