Ms. Dennis 7th grade Life Science Cell Model Project

Your cell must be a 3D model!!!! It cannot be a picture on a flat poster board surface! Must have sides, top, and bottom. Model should be small enough to fit in a shoebox!

WHAT NOT TO DO!

Your cell model MUST have a key! You can label the cell parts with numbers that match with the key You can label the cell parts with the names Your key must include the function of each cell organelle

What to use? You CAN use any common household item to make your cell model Ex: Styrofoam, playdough, cardboard, wood, paper, string, button, pipe cleaner, beads, yarn. BE CREATIVE! YOU DON’T HAVE TO SPEND $$$$ You CANNOT use anything that is edible or will spoil! NO FOOD! Ex: jello, fruit, vegetable, pizza, cake, etc.

WHAT NOT TO DO!

WHAT TO DO!

Make sure you label your cell! Put your name and your class on the project Identify which cell your model is. Jane Doe, Animal Cell, 7B

Be sure to label all the organelles Plant Cell (12 cell organelles) Cell wall, cell membrane, chloroplast, cytoplasm, mitochondria, nucleus, golgi body, endoplasmic reticulum (ER), vacuole, chromosomes, ribosomes, lysosomes Animal Cell (10 cell organelles) Cell membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria, nucleus, golgi body, endoplasmic reticulum (ER), vacuole, chromosomes, ribosomes, lysosomes

Grading. Total points = 50 Model Key 50 – 45 pts = A 44 – 40 pts = B 39 – 35 pts = C 34 – 30 pts = D Under 29 pts = F Model All cell parts represented = 20pts Cell parts label with words or numbers = 5pts All labels and cell parts attached = 5pts Apparence, neatness, creative = 5pts Key Able to identify cell and correct function = 10pts Spelling, grammar, punctuation = 5 pts Having grading sheet = 2 pts
