Not So Fun Plague Facts! Killed million people during the middle ages That is the same number of people who lived in the United States in 1972, the year I was born. Worldwide around 2000 people get the Bubonic Plague every year and 220 people die from it. On average 1-17 people in the US contract it per year We know exactly where the plague started in Europe during the middles ages; the port of Milan Dock workers bordered a trading ship in the port to find the crew all sick or dead, and the rest is history! Sanitation proved to be the cure for stopping the spread of the plague.
