1. The animal in this photo is walrus. It is swimming and hunting for seals. It is looking for its food.

2. They live in the coast water of Artctica, North America and Russia. The walruses like shallow water close to floating pieces of ice. So we can meet them right there. The walruses eat fish, snails, crustacean, seals and carrion. Females have one baby in early summer. Their pregnancy lasts from 15 to 16 mounths. They live about 50 years and weigh from 400 to 1700 kilos.

3. Walruses are on the ‘red list’ because they are in danger of becoming extinct. People kill them because of their meat, skin, bones and tusks.
