CEE 3224: TRANSPORTATION DESIGN;

A SHOPPING MALL DEVELOPMENT

Project Description ■For CEE 3224, Transportation Facilities Design, our students spent six weeks creating designs for functional areas of driveways and the adjoining intersection for an anonymous shopping mall development. ■Students worked in two person teams; 8 of the 13 designs are presented here ■Inputs included Microstation files and projected traffic volumes

Project Design ■Students identified project constraints and design considerations ■Students used their engineering judgment, the AASHTO Green Book, PennDOT design manuals, and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices to document their designs ■Designs included travel lanes and shoulders, signage and channelization, and a cost estimate for their plans
