How to play… One student is the contestant. The rest of the class is the “mob”. The contestant will be presented with a series of multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers. The mob must record their answers on a whiteboard or a student response system while the contestant considers his/her answer. The contestant reveals his/her answer. If correct, the contestant continues. All members of the mob must reveal their answers, those that answer incorrectly are out of the game. The contestant receives the amount of money equal to $500 times the number of mob members that answered incorrectly. If the contestant answers incorrectly, all remaining mob members split the winnings amassed (“the contestant’s pot”), the former contestant becomes part of the “mob”, and a new contestant is chosen.

How to play… Winnings are kept track of on the “Contestant Leaderboard” slide. Simply click in the box, enter the student’s name, then in the box next to it, click and enter the winnings. The “winner” is the contestant at the end of the game who has the most winnings. Each contestant gets 1 help for every 5 questions. There are 3 types: –Poll the mob – the mob displays their answers for the contestant to consider. –Trust the mob – the contestant agrees to accept whatever the majority answer is of the mob. –Ask the mob – the contestant gets to hear the answer of two randomly chosen (by the teacher) members of the mob and uses this information to make his/her decision.

Logistics Start the powerpoint. The theme song will play. Choose the 1 st contestant (I recommend seating him/her away from the mob.) On the “Contestant Leaderboard” slide, have a student helper enter in the 1 st contestant’s name. Display the 1 st question slide. The mob must record their answers BEFORE the contestant is asked to give his/her answer. A sound effect plays in the background – the contestant has until the sound stops to consider his/her answer. The contestant may use a help (one for every 5 questions and no helps can be reused). The contestant gives his/her answer. Click anywhere on the slide. A lightning bolt appears, asound effect plays, and the correct answer is revealed.
