Andrew Walker Wildlife and Fisheries Science Wildlife concentration Tennessee Technological University Cookeville, TN

Statement of Major Concentration My name is Andrew Walker and I am a sophomore here at Tennessee Tech. I spent my first two semesters as an engineering major. Because I recently transferred to this field of study, I am a little behind in classes specific for my major, which I have recently changed to Wildlife and Fisheries Science. Because I have no idea about a certain career to set my goals to, I have decided to pick a major that interests me, and find out my options when the time arises. I am hoping for a job that keeps me outdoors everyday. One of the reasons that I switched from engineering is because I can’t stand sitting at a desk all day long. I need to be more hands-on. I am not very good at public speaking so I am hoping for something where I can work with some coworkers and a few other individuals, if necessary. I have not figured out which area of concentration within the wildlife and fisheries science major interests me the most. The conservation biology concentration is currently the concentration that sparks my interest the most. I am planning to decide by the end of the 2004 spring semester.

Statement of Interest in Biology Professional Organizations/Clubs The club that I am most interested in is the Wildlife Society Club. I am most interested in this club because it best fits my interests in Biology at this time. I am not as interested in the Marine Biology Club or the Student Fisheries Association because I am not as interested in the aquatic concentration of biology. I would consider joining these clubs to get a “foot in the door” in the industry.
