Broken & Contrite ♥ Psalm 51:16 For you do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. One Present Day Scenario Laying in bed at night your conscience/thoughts start gnawing at you You didn’t pray well today, you struggled with this, you can do so much better, you tend to be lazy, you did this, you didn’t do that, God can’t be pleased with me. That’s when you thank God for Jesus! When you become overwhelmed by the fact that Christ loves you as a dirty sinner, it’s the kindness that leads to true repentance And the conscience is cleaned Hebrews - Lesson 9

Summary Vs 14 …cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? “Serve” can also be translated worship. The blood of Christ purifies our conscience from dead works - the active violation of the will of God. Read 1 John 1:7 Hebrews - Lesson 9

Open the Way to God It is the kindness of Christ and the overwhelming gratitude that brings us to repentance. The atoning death of Christ gives us right relationship with God; it also provides the purification that enables authentic relationship with God. Hebrews - Lesson 9
