I think that in America, today, we are in love with biker gangs, zombies, and vampires. It’s all because of the television shows that we watch. They are unique, shocking, out-of-this-world and so different than our everyday lives. This summer, Morgan had her tonsils out and she watch the WHOLE SERIES of “Sons of Anarchy” on Netflix. I would see a little bit when I’d go in to give her medicine or help her when she felt bad. Yikes! There were all of these lines in the script that were so negative and they gave advice about ways to do things that are totally opposite of the way I live my life. The show is rated TV-MA-LSV —it is definitely not for young people to see because of the violence, the language, and the graphic situations that these “bikers” found themselves in. I think, too, that when you have beautiful and handsome movie stars playing the characters, it may cause a romantic myth about these dangerous, law-breaking groups. Yes, there were some savory looking characters in their cast, but the reality of it is that gang life may not be as cool in real life compared to what we have seen on television. Just because someone buys a motorcycle, wears a leather vest and black leather boots—this doesn’t mean they want to be in a gang of Harley-riding outlaws. I just hope that young people don’t get crazy trying to imitate these “outlaws” and get themselves into trouble all because of a television show. (255 words)
