3 College/Scholarships/Fee Waivers Mr. Elizondo Go Center Resources are available in the Go Center, including computers containing software programs designed to help you with college, career, financial aid and scholarship information. Students may use the computers in the Go Center to register for the SAT/ACT, NCAA, and college applications. The college advisor is in the Go Center to help you. A Scholarship File Cabinet is located in the Go Center with paper copies of scholarships not posted on the internet and sent to the school.

Counselor Handbook 4  Important reference for you – keep and refer to it throughout the year for test dates, college planning and general information.

PSAT 7 School wide testing day for ALL 11 th graders will be Wednesday October 14, This test will be FREE for all 11 th graders! Your score will determine your eligibility for National Merit Scholar Awards. See Mr. Elizondo if you have any questions.

Looking Ahead 10  Register and take ACT/ SAT in the Spring  Meet with your counselor to discuss credits, GPA, and class rank.  Search and apply for scholarships.  Search and apply for summer jobs, internships, and volunteer experiences.  Schedule summer campus visits.

SAT vs. ACT SAT Offered 7 times per yearOffered 6 times per year 10 section exam: 3 Critical Reading, 3 Math, 3 Writing, 1Experimental 5 test exam: English, Math, Reading, Science Reasoning, Writing (optional depending on the school) Math: Up to Geometry and Algebra 2Math: Up to Trigonometry(Pre-Cal) Penalty for wrong answers ¼ of a point for each wrong answer on multiple choice questions No penalty for wrong answers Score is for each subject added together for a combined score of , 2-12 points for essay. Score is 1-36 for each test averaged together for a composite score of 1-36, 2-12 points for writing test. Requested score reports include scores for EVERY SAT taken. Students can choose which scores the school will see. 11
