Presentation transcript:

Human Systems Part One Humans are complex organisms made up of many different types of systems, each carries out a specific life process.

Human Systems

A- Levels of Organization: 1- Cells the basic unit of life. Humans have many different cells that carry out many different functions.

2- Tissues: Groups of similar cells working together to perform a task Heart Lung Skin 3- Organ: Groups of tissues working together to perform a task.

4- Organ Systems: a group of Organs working together to perform a task.

II- Skeletal System A- Function B- Bones are Strong but Light. 1-Support 2- Protects Internal Organs 3- Produces Blood Cells B- Bones are Strong but Light.

1- Joints: Place where bones meet. a- ball and socket b-hinge c-immovable d-pivot

2- Tendons: Attach muscle to bone 3-Ligaments: Attach bone to bone

III- Muscle A- Two Types 1- Voluntary you can control a- Skeletal muscle 2- Involuntary you have no control over. a- Cardiac (Heart) b- Smooth (Stomach, Circulatory)

B- Skeletal Muscle: Works in opposing pairs

Front View (Anterior) Back View (Posterior)

IV- Skin: 1- Function= b- Regulates Body Temperature A- First Line of Defense: 1- Function= a- Gets rid of wastes (perspire) b- Regulates Body Temperature c- Protects if not cut or open d- Water proof
