History of Peregrine Falcons By Haley Rolling Hills Elementary 2006

The peregrine falcons were precious to the Ancient Egyptians. The birds would catch and eat small animals who disturbed the Great Pyramids. The peregrine falcons were mummified as if they were important people.

The Falcon was a symbol for the God, Horus, who had the head of a falcon and the body of a man.

Falcons have had a long association with people.Falconry, the use of birds of prey in hunting, dates back to the year 2000 B.C. in Ancient Egypt and China. The practice of falconry reached Europe by 300 B.C. Because of its strength, and intelligence the peregrine falcon was a rare bird of royalty in the middle ages, and its nests were sometimes the property of the nobles.

I think it is cool that peregrine falcons are still around. It is good that peregrines are off the endangered list.
