2 Mile Stones Late 70s: Uganda Heart Foundation (UHF) formed 1988 – Uganda Heart Foundation Registered as an NGO 1990: Founded the Uganda Heart Institute

3 Objectives Pursue educational campaigns on heart health To plan and assist in research programs on heart disease Establish an institution known as the Uganda Heart Institute To acquire and lease land, construct, and acquire building To raise money for any of the above purposes

4 Fundraising Activities 1990: received the 3-H Grant of US$ 208,500 from rotary International, for:

6 US$ 5000 for Tobacco fight from the UICC

7 Ongoing Fundraising For poor children in need of treatment for heart disease both locally and abroad In conjunction with partners to raise funds for specific projects –Standard chartered bank –Soweto string quartet

8 Establishment of The UHI UHF in conjunction with the MoH, MUK and Mulago Hospital formed the UHI Was established in 1992 Registered as a limited company in 2001 Granted vote status in 2009 Has performed over 30 open heart surgeries since 2007 Catheter lab is being procured now

9 Educational Campaigns Public awareness Radio and TV talk shows World heart day cerebrations Print media Talks to specified interest groups
