Leadership

Tribal/Nation Governance Model Building Collaborative Bridges: An Outline For Achieving Common Goals From the Perspective of a Nation/Tribe Chief

Goals For Our Short Time Together Consensus that we all have something to learn A few more tools in your tool-box than when you started Our program moves ahead

I feel that I can be a leader in tribe because….. I am passionate about the importance of the organization I am very involved….. I try continually to keep the people informed….. No one else stepped forward I am willing to accept tasks to see that the groups is successful

I feel like I am prevented from being a leader because….. Stretched too thin Lack of interest Lack of communication There’s only so much influence you can have in what’s becoming a very apathetic audience Some fellow leaders trying to push their own interests even if it endangers the whole Getting information is difficult

Describe Your Responsibilities in the broader organization I feel I have taken on more than I wanted…. I feel disappointed that I have so many responsibilities I think I have good ideas that people listen to I am always on the lookout for new members I participate There is none because my company blocked any further involvement because already the chapter leadership took too much of my time

Leadership Review What is Leadership: John C Maxwell : "leadership is influence - nothing more, nothing less.“ Peter Drucker : "The only definition of a leader is someone who has followers.“ Warren Bennis : "Leadership is a function of knowing yourself, having a vision that is well communicated, building trust among colleagues, and taking effective action to realize your own leadership potential." The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers." - Ralph Nader Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile -Vince Lombardi
