 It was more than a kilometer wide  It was about 6000 meters deep.

 They used ropes to help them to descend.

 There were three chimneys.

Why did the professor shout while they were exploring the bottom of the crater?

 The professor shouted because he saw the name “ArneSaknussemm” on a large rock.

After they had read the name of “ArneSaknussemm on the rock, they had to ………………. discover which of the three chimneys ArneSaknussemm had descended.

Why did they know which chimney to enter?

 Because there was no sun, so there would be no shadow to guide them.
