Elements of Storytelling Storytelling– the telling or writing of stories Stories- a narrative, either true or fictitious, designed to interest, amuse, or instruct the hearer, viewer or reader.

Parts-clear path Beginning-the first part, the opening, the introduction to a character or circumstance. Middle-Where the main action takes place (leading from the beginning to the end) End-the last part, the conclusion

Characters- people in the story Protagonist-the leading character, the hero, the person we are rooting for (we are PRO them) Antagonist- a person who is opposed to, struggles aga inst, or competes with another; opponent;

Setting-the place and time in which a story takes place

What is happening Obstacles/Problems-something that obstructs or hinders progress. Something that gets in the way. Events-Something that happens (a tornado/the boat sinks etc.) Character Struggles (internal struggles) a character dealing with his or her own mixed feelings or emotions. Example: A character may have to decide between right and wrong or between two solutions to a problem.

Nearing the end… Climax:a decisive moment that is of maximum in tensity or is a major turning point in a plot. Resolution: is the part of the story's plot line in which the problem of the story is resolved or worked out. This occurs after the falling action and is typically where the story ends.
