Information Literacy Standards for Student Learning The student who is information literate…

…Accesses information efficiently and effectively Indicators:  Recognizes the need for information  Recognizes that accurate and comprehensive information is the basis for intelligent decision making  Formulates questions based on information needs  Identifies a variety of potential sources of information  Develops and uses successful strategies for locating information

Survey the stakeholders… Teachers Administrators Parents Older students 5-8 th graders –What skills do they feel they need? –What kinds of learning do they choose to do when they are not in school? –How might we help them connect effectively with information? –How might we reach them more effectively as learners?

When should we start? Now! Here come our new kindergarteners…the class of 2022! The world into which they will graduate and work needs 21 st century skills!
