GOLDEN ORB SPIDER OLIVER BELLMAN

INTRODUCTION The Golden Orb Spider is an arachnid.

DESCRIPTION  The female has yellow dots all over her back with a golden strip on her neck.  The male is smaller than the female.

FOOD  The Golden Orb Spider eats large insects, small birds and bats.

HABITAT  It lives in the Daintree Rainforest.

BEHAVIOUR  The male can be attacked by the female. The female hunts during the day.

INTERESTING FACTS  The Golden Orb Spider is the world’s largest two-dimensional web weaver.  It has a very, very, venomous bite. It can kill a bat.
