A five-year economic development roadmap for the Region Co-funded by the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) and the South Florida Regional Planning Council (SFRPC) Last update - the CEDS was approved by the CEDS Strategy Committee in 2007

Analyzes the regional economy Establishes regional goals and objectives Develops and implements a regional plan of action Identifies investment priorities and funding sources, and Assigns lead organizations responsibilities for execution of the CEDS

9/10/2012South Florida Regional Planning Council10 CEDS Strategy Committee Council staff worked with public and private sector partners to create the CEDS Committee, which includes private and public sector representatives, community leaders, representatives from workforce development boards, institutions of higher education and minority and labor groups, and private individuals.

9/10/2012South Florida Regional Planning Council13 CEDS and SRPP As a performance-based plan, the CEDS will serve a critical role in the Region’s efforts to defend against economic dislocations due to global trade, competition and other events resulting in the loss of jobs and private investment. As such, the updated CEDS is compatible with and supportive of goals of the SRPP and its supporting policies, specifically, Goals 1,2,3,4,8,14,15,17,18,19,20,21,22.

9/10/2012South Florida Regional Planning Council14 CEDS Implementation The CEDS was approved by the SFRPC’s Board at the September Council Meeting. The CEDS will be updated at regular intervals. All 11 RPC’s have used the Six Pillars framework in their respective CEDS updates.
