Bill of Rights Objective: Identify & describe the rights listed in the Bill of Rights

Amendments to the constitution  Purpose: to list formal changes to the constitution  Amendments: Bill of Rights (1791)  Amendments

How do we Amend the Constitution? Amendment proposed in both houses of Congress by a 2/3 vote ¾ of the state legislatures ratify the amendment  Power lies exclusively with Congress & the states.

Another way to amend…  Approved not by state legislatures, but by special conventions in ¾ of the states.  Only on the 21 st amendment was ratified this way….

Fun Facts…  Over 11,000 amendments have been introduced to Congress  33 sent to states for ratification  27 ratified
