Main objectives Show benefits & challenges of joint monitoring in the North Sea and the Celtic Sea: –potential for multi-use of platforms (ships, planes, buoys…) –constructive network between institutions (fisheries and environmental monitoring) –planning and evaluation tools to enhance the outcome of monitoring with regard to evaluation of GES Resulting in increased efficiency & reduced costs With an eye on transferability to other (sub) regions: North Sea and Celtic Sea and potentially beyond
Case studies – options for joint monitoring Reacts to RSCs common indicators Elaborates logistics of improved integration Estimates cost-benefit compared to current monitoring programmes/surveys Identifies hurdles and opportunities, both operational and organisational/political End product supports operational implementation
Case studies - Topics Eutrophication (chlorophyll) Fish indicator Benthos indicator Multi-use of survey vessels
