“Abstract art tends to rely on the associations of form to suggest meaning, rather than employing recognizable motifs to point to particular themes and content”- artstory.org
Abstract art is always a concept that has I never fully understood throughout life. It makes you take time to examine a piece of art that you can interpret in anyway you want to, which I feel like how art should speak to the viewer. Old and contemporary artists that use abstract art, tend to have a pattern of vibrant colors and disfigured shapes. The first time I was instructed to use abstract art, was to beat a block of clay into a shape that no one could comprehend. I was confused on why my teacher would want us to make a piece of art that would not make sense like figurative art does. My old art teacher explained it was a way to speak to different artists that can connect to the type of emotions you express through abstract art. In this final project, I want to express abstract art that is inspired through three different artists: Andy Warhol, Ron Davis, and Ed Ruscha.
