Managing In Tough Times “Bits & Tips” Maintaining Your Insurance Needs in Uncertain Times/COBRA

Importance of Insurance Insurance protects your household from financial loss. Contact your insurance carrier about ways to reduce your premiums and alternative payment plans.

COBRA Health Care Coverage COBRA provides the continuation of your group healthcare coverage after you have separated from an employer. COBRA is a less expensive option than seeking your own health insurance plan. To qualify for COBRA coverage: – Reduction in hours of employment – Voluntary or involuntary termination from an employer unless due to gross misconduct.

New Health Care Reform New Healthcare Reform has little effect on COBRA. Although the new health care reform legislation may affect your coverage, it does not affect eligibility, premiums, or length of COBRA benefits.
