EMPATHIZE Partner Interview Time How do we use energy in our everyday lives? Give examples of different places that use energy and how they use it. Why would it be important to design a way to monitor energy? Why would it be important to design a way to decrease energy?

PROTOTYPE Start rough and rapid You will have 10 minutes to build before the 1st round of FEEDBACK

TEST Go back to the student you interviewed FEEDBACK is the key - I like... I would maybe change...

Prototype Share-out 1. Did you come up with a way to decrease or monitor energy consumption or both? 1. Did you come up with a way to decrease or monitor energy consumption or both? 2. How does your design monitor/decrease energy consumption? 2. How does your design monitor/decrease energy consumption? 3. What is the BEST feature of your design? 3. What is the BEST feature of your design? 4. If you had more time, what would you add/change, etc? 4. If you had more time, what would you add/change, etc?

Overall Challenge Reflection What did you learn today? How did the design process help create innovative thinking? What did you think about the specific design challenge today? If you had more time what would you do to your design? Check blog for key word! Blogs.svvsd.org/innovationacademy/ Blogs.svvsd.org/innovationacademy/

Math Inquiry Question: How do we measure energy? Lesson: Students will use a light apparatus that detects the energy consumption of different types of light bulbs. They will calculate the amount of energy consumption and put the data into a table and convert this into a graph. The student will calculate the lumens per watt which explains the how much energy is produced per watt (energy efficiency).
