Deficiency Needs Physiological Needs- needs for oxygen, water, protein, salt, calcium and other vitamins & minerals Safety Needs- seek safe circumstances, stability and protection
Belongingness and Love Needs- need for friendships, relationships and even sense of community Esteem Needs Lower Esteem: need for fame, glory, appreciation, & appreciation Higher Esteem: need for self-respect such as confidence, mastery, independence and freedom
Cognitive Needs Need to know and understand Aesthetic Needs Need to find beauty and form Self- Actualization Needs Becoming the complete “you” Comfortable being alone Being Needs
How Teachers Use The Information Used to structure lessons & create classroom environment Ideal to meet as many needs as possible with students Teacher has to understand what to do with a student whose physiological needs are not already met
