 Full-Time Media Specialist  Media Center Hours 7:10- 3:30  Leadership Team Member  SACS Team Member  Georgia Milestones Online Administrator  Technology Specialist  Website Manager

 I accepted the Media Specialist Job in early May and began working in late July.

 I was lucky enough to able to learn hands on how to catalog an entire reading program for our school.  Journey’s Houghton Mifflin

 I began this year, by weeding out teacher materials from years past.  Also, we decluttered the Media Center and made it more child friendly.

 I opened Sarah Cobb’s Media Center with a Media Center Orientation for all grades at different scheduled times.

 Soon after the year began, I noticed my students did not understand how to find a book in the library.  I began teaching a class in the lab to help students understand the set up of their Media Center.  Click on the image below to view PowerPoint.

 Not to exaggerate, but this Media Center had not be weeded in about years.  Weeding has been an on going process.  My Para and I are using Library Girl’s Media Weeding Guide.

 Chehaw Animals  Game Day!  Jumping Castles, Slide, and Freeze Pop Party

 On the last Friday of each month, we have organized a time for our local Kiwanis members to read with our students.

 We received new desktop computers to create a second lab in out school!

 We received 270 Laptops with carts and 180 IPads with carts for students to use in classroom. I had to inventory and create a checkout system to maintain location of all items.  I also learned to use a new system, Meraki, to manage the Ipads’ applications and location.

 Our system went through a Federal Title I Technology Audit this year.  Each Media Specialist had to inventory every piece of technology purchased with Title I money and record the location.

 Sumter County went through SACS Accreditation this year.  I was in charge of helping staff understand and collected data for Standard 4.  Click ribbon to view PowerPoint.  Sumter County received SACS Accreditation.

 Click the Image to view the PowerPoint of activities for DR. Seuss Week.

 Our school is required to test 30 students online this year.  I am in charge of the Technology required to test these students.  I went to all training sections.

 Sumter County School System has decided to combine city and county schools. My school will become Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten only.  We are in the planning stages of figuring out how we will transfer Media Center Books, Technology and Textbooks.  Wish Us Luck!

 You are flexible and can do many jobs.  For some reason, teachers think I control the Wifi.  Google It!  Students Love You!  The job never ends.
