PROBLEM Current security camera systems available on the market are expensive and complicated.

SOLUTION The Home Surveillance Device will be a cheap, easy to use camera that takes a series of pictures when motion is detected.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW Motion Sensor RTC Camera Microprocessor Storage Power

CONSTRAINTS: TECHNICAL Name Description Motion Detection Range The HSD must detect motion at least 25 feet away. Power The HSD must operate from a standard 120V wall outlet, and it must be able to operate on battery power for at least 1 month (based on 150 pictures a day.) Minimum Resolution The HSD must take pictures at a minimum resolution of (320x240). Picture Storage The HSD must be able to store at least 1 month worth of pictures. Camera Warm up TimeThe HSD must be able to take a picture within two seconds of motion.

CONSTRAINTS: PRACTICAL Type Name Description Manufacturability Size The HSD’s dimensions must not exceed 4” x 3” x 2.” UsabilityStorageThe HSD must have an easy – to – use removable storage device.

CONSTRAINTS: PRACTICAL Manufacturability: Size The HSD must have dimensions that will not exceed 4"x3"x2.” This will allow the HSD to: Be placed anywhere in a room Go unnoticed anywhere it is placed Be discrete and aesthetically pleasing

CONSTRAINTS: PRACTICAL Usability: Storage The HSD must have an easy to use storage device that: Any modern computer can use without separate cables or devices. Has a large storage capacity Is easy to remove Is easy to retrieve data

REFINEMENTS: Project running within stated specifications last semester. Refinements:  Cleaned up Code  External Switch on case allows the user to turn on/off the device easily.  When case is opened up there are two other switches Turn on/off battery power Turn on/off external power

PACKAGING: Three types of packaging we are looking into: 1.Purchase a ready made enclosure 2.Fabricate a custom enclosure 3.Camouflage

PACKAGING READY MADE: [6]

SYSTEM TESTS : [1] [4] [6] [8] [11] Tests will be performed once our PCB arrives. We will test our components in the following order: Power Supply/Power Circuit Components  Microprocessor  Camera  Motion Detector  RTC  VDIP USB Module

SYSTEM TESTS Power Circuit: [1] [4] [6] [8] [11] Assemble Measure output voltages Populate the remaining parts once voltages are acceptable

SYSTEM TESTS Microprocessor : [1] [4] [6] [8] [11] Program with Bully Bootloader Verify we can send and receive data

SYSTEM TESTS Camera : [1] [4] [6] [8] [11] Monitor transmit and receive ports with logic port analyzer Send power mode commands to the camera Verify functionality by monitoring current draw

SYSTEM TESTS Motion Detector : [1] [4] [6] [8] [11] Monitor the output port using logic port analyzer Verify motion detection range by seeing the pin pulled low

SYSTEM TESTS RTC : [1] [4] [6] [8] [11] Using a read and write time program and bully bootloader, communication to the Real Time Clock can be checked and verified.

SYSTEM TESTS Complete : [1] [4] [6] [8] [11] Load the microprocessor with the HSD program. Measure system current draw Perform battery life calculations

SYSTEM TESTS Complete (continued) : [1] [4] [6] [8] [11] After simulated “break-ins” at various ranges Lights on and off AC power and Battery power The USB drive will be checked for accurately time stamped pictures.
