What is Coaching? It’s a methodology for developing self and others so that people are more effective and fulfilled. It involves the development of increasing competence in the coachee competence = understanding + the ability to take action It’s about self correcting and self generation of new behaviours Conversations, self observations and practices are the primary processess and tools

How Coaching Works? 1.Current Reality Level of skill or quality Hinderances to improvement 2.Intended Outcomes Described in behavioral terms 3.Action Plan Practices Network of support Time frame

The three conversations in coaching 50-60% 20-30% 10% Conversation for relationship (SOI) Conversation for possibility Conversation for action 1.Conversation for Relationship Building mutual trust and respect Understanding the person in their context Clarifying what they want to do Understanding what they have tried already Re-aligning their expectations Exploring barriers and obstacles 2.Conversation for Possibility Working with them to generate new perspectives or ways or seeing the situation Pushing them to think outside of the box Generating multiple possibilities 3.Conversation for Action Turning possibilities into action Securing commitment to next steps Enrolling them in way forward Clarifying what could go wrong
