Implementing programs that include elements of appropriateness, affordability and equity

For a program to be sustainable it must be able to be continued after the aid workers leave. It must have elements of: Appropriateness Affordability Equity

Appropriateness Appropriateness means that the implemented program addresses the specific needs of a targeted community or population. The program or strategy must also take into account the cultural and political aspects of the community taking into account the values and beliefs of a particular group.

Affordability It is important to ensure that the program is affordable at the individual, community and national level.

Equity Equity is about providing all people and communities with equal access to services to promote their health and sustainable human development. All individual and community groups such as women, the disabled and those living in remote locations must be catered for.
