Nation-State: Land, culture, language, traditions, etc – make a nation Nationalism – encourages the idea that loyalty should be to nation – Empires will crumble due to push for independence from nations within empire – Regions will unite: Germany & Italy were NOT nations until late 1800s

Patriotism vs. Nationalism Patriotism: love of country Nationalism: love country – and it’s superior to others – and, often, are willing to prove it!
