It is important to have consistent rules in place for students to have clear expectations of what to do and what not to do concerning bullying.

The Olweus rules are posted in different areas in the school AND will be enforced in all areas of the school.

School Rules from Olweus: We will not bully others. We will try to help students who are bullied. We will try to include students who are left out. If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and at home. We will not bully others. We will try to help students who are bullied. Classrooms will hold weekly meetings to discuss bullying scenarios and appropriate behavior. Teachers, staff, administrators will enforce rules. (They have already been trained in Olweus.) When bullying is observed, the situation will be used as a teaching moment. Classrooms will hold weekly meetings to discuss bullying scenarios and appropriate behavior. How will Olweus be implemented at FCMS?

Students who are victims will be reaffirmed and checked on; students with bully-type behavior will be “counseled” at the point of intervention and receive immediate consequences.

Parents of students who are victims will be called and apprised of the situation so immediate care, support, and instruction can be given. “Counsel” will also be given to “empower” the victim.
